2016 Day 28

After my success with the free flowing watercolor style piece I showed you yesterday, I tried another. BUT, this one didn't work nearly as well.
Parrot Tulip
H'mm, it actually looks better in the photo than it does in person! (I think)

This piece started out much larger; there was a bud and a purple flower as well. I was ready to scrap the whole thing but Linda quite liked this flower so I cut the paper down. I added some leaves to disguise the stems from the discarded flowers, made a few touch ups and voilà, I was done!

"Parrot Tulip" is an unframed 5 x 7 acrylic on watercolor paper.

Only 2 more days to go!

    Val, I think this is awesome. Look at it for what it is, and not what it was before you cropped it. Wonderful things happening in those petals!

    Thanks so much Sheila. I may never be able to see what others see in this but that really doesn't matter - it will probably sell right away - lol

    You did a great job with the stripes in the petals! Also, I am glad you saved it. Sometimes, if I only like one part of a painting, I'll just crop that part. Plus, the remainder can be in a collage, etc. Nothing goes to waste in my little studio. This is a great piece!

      Thanks Laurie, I was happy with that part too. I don't do many collages so I don't keep many of my mistakes on paper - I would run out of room - lol. Have a great day!

    I like this flower too. Why is it some look better photographed or is it just we are more detached?

      Thanks Nelvia. I guess that might be why - also, we are looking at it from more distance in a photo. I often find that I don't like some of my paintings and they always seem to sell so who knows?
