Quilled Paper Seahorse |
I mostly used my own painted papers and an expanded design from my Quilled Critters. This piece is made with 1/4 inch paper on a painted paper background. It is approximately 7.5" x 3.75" and will be mounted on an 8 x 10 or 9 x 12 mat.

I am sure that I will be doing more of these - I just have to come up with some designs that work well with quilling patterns.
LOVE them both Val! I love that you paint your own paper. I have a thing for seahorses, and these are lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheila. I think that seahorses are well suited to fancy designs - such flowing lines. I enjoy painting my papers as there is so much scope for playing.
DeleteOh, I love these!!! I was going to try to make something at Christmas using quilled paper. These are so pretty! I can't decide which one I like best.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joan. I made a bunch of the Quilled Critters before Christmas and sold them , mostly as ornaments, at a local craft fair. The fancier seahorse is backed so it is stickily a piece of art.
DeleteI just went through all your posts for the challenge and thoroughly enjoyed seeing all your different pieces. I'm going to put your blog in my "links" on the side of my blog so I can find you again. I did subscribe to your blog too. I love finding new artists to follow through Leslie's challenge. Sometimes it is just too overwhelming to look at all the art that has been posted in one day, so it is fun when I find someone whose art I connect with. I usually try to look at a few of the posted pieces on Leslie's blog each day, but it is so hard to keep up or even make a small dent in seeing the work.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean and I try to do the same thing. I added my name to your Watercolors by Joan 2 blog the other day and have been enjoying what you have been up to too. Now it is time to get back to the studio. Have a great day!
DeleteAbsolutely Beautiful Val! hugs!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Leesa
DeleteVal, you are unique. What a super little piece and yes you have to make more. I bet this is even better in person when you really see the dimensionality of the oiece.
ReplyDeleteThanks you so much Nelvia. I have ideas for 3 more but I need to paint and cut some more paper - it is all so time consuming but so interesting.
