30/30 January Challenge #23

Ta da! I have reached another milestone! Not only is 2017 my 20th anniversary as an artist but I will be sharing my 1000th painting today. Of course, I have painted more pieces than that over the years but there were some that I didn't consider worth cataloguing. Those have been saved in my rejects file and, there were a number that just went in the round file. So, here is today's painting.
#1000 - Flowers by the Stairs - 5 x 7 watercolour
I used another photo from my miscellaneous file for this piece. The original was black and white (from "Rangefinder" photo magazine) and, while it was a super piece, I decided to add some colour. I also changed the composition a bit. I like the soft, abstract quality of the flowers against the hard edges of the stairs and the railing.

It is hard to believe we only have 7 paintings left to make it to 30; I think I will either be burnt out or on such a roll that I will want to keep going.

If you go to Leslie's 30/30 page be sure to click on some of your favourites and then add your name to follow some of the blogs by other artists. I think that is one of the best parts of these challenges, seeing all the incredible art!

Thanks for stopping by; please leave a comment.

  1. I can imagine this scene in so many places!!! I like the contrast of the strong linear railing and steps with the softness of the flowers. Well done! Congrats on the milestone!!! Thanks for sharing your work! It is hard to believe we only have 7 days left...and I have quite a few more photos people sent me of their pets. I may have to continue for a while. lol

    1. Thanks so much Joan for your comments. I had to chuckle - I am imagining you painting pet portraits for the rest of the year because I am sure that ever one who sent you a photo is looking forward to seeing your renditions. Be careful what you ask for - lol!

  2. You will see the confetti blowing in your direction any moment - it is probably going to be white!!!! Congrats on the big milestone, it is a big deal. I really like this piece for so man of the same reasons Joan mentioned. Just well well done on this one. Yes, I am going to be happy when it is over but think I am going to be on a roll as well.

    1. Thanks Laurie. It is great how people see the same thing differently, and, by sharing those thoughts make the artist think. Thanks for you comments.

  4. WOW, that is amazing! Congratulations Val! WOOO WHooo! I agree with what the others said. The flowers are so lovely, and I love the texture on the wall. Looks like an old wal, but also like dappled light from under a shade tree perhaps. You little pots are lovely too :)
