Another cold day but the air is crisp and clear; it would be a great day to get some good winter photos if, of course, I took good photos and wanted to go out in the cold - lol.
I did the basic drawing for my fourth piece early this morning then started on the painting at Art Club.

#982 - Beyond the Walls - 5 x 7 watercolour |
|
I finished the painting this afternoon and I have to say that the bricks got a little boring. However, I like the concept of this piece; that beyond the walls, whether physical or mental, lies a wonderful world.
Now I just have to add my link to
Leslie's 30/30 page - don't forget to check it out!
I like the idea of the view beyond the walls. Nice texture to the bricks too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joan - glad you like it
DeleteAwesome job, and a great premise! Love the way your framed the view, the details in the bricks, and the soft light in the view. Terrific Val :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheila. I was afraid that the soft landscape was too soft against the hardness of the brick but I think I like the contrast.
DeleteYou have inspired me Val, we have an old mill from the Civil War times that is in ruin and I have several pictures in through the stone wall windows. I like the way the bricks frame the look through. How did you do the bricks?
ReplyDeleteThanks Nelvia I am glad this has given you an idea for future work. The bricks are a mixed of cad red, burnt sienna, burnt umber and the odd touch of raw sienna. They are mostly done wet in wet with final touches of dry brush for the darkest tones and underlined with blended black to give them a bit more depth. Something else for you to experiment on - lol.
DeleteOh man, don't encourage my vices!! Thanks for the heads up on the bricks.
DeleteArt isn't a vice its a virtue and have fun with any brick you do.
