30/30 January Challenge 2017 - Post #1

Well, I did it again - signed up for Leslie's Painting Challenge.

What was I thinking of? There never seems to be enough time and my house is already full to bursting with paintings, but oh no, I have to sign on to do 30 paintings in 30 days. I think I need help!

Here is my piece for the first day of the 2017 challenge.
#978 - Yellow-rumped Warbler with Wisteria
I did a card for a Christmas card exchange and liked it so much I decided to do one a bit bigger and frame it. This is a combination of watercolour and paper quilling framed to 6 x 12.

Now I just have to post this and then it is back to housework - no rest for me on this first day of the new year. Oh well, better busy than bored!

    1. Ha, ha! I am sure you remember housework - that stuff that gets in the way of our art. I enjoy mixing the two media and am glad you like it too. Thanks for stopping by Joan.

    1. Thanks Laurie - and don't I wish I could go the whole month without doing housework. I will just have to fit that in around my painting - good luck this month on your pieces.

  4. Hi Val, I meant to ask you on the quilling do you have something that you put the paper around to get it into circles or do you free hand it? Housework here too comes and goes, I try to do something each day in 15 minutes and eventually it shows up as cleaner for a couple of days!! We all are quite easy to entertain aren't we - give us pressure and we jump at it!! We are crazy crazy crazy, but at least it is great not to be in it alone.

    1. Hi Nelvia. For rolling the quilling paper I admit to being cheap. You can buy tools but I just make do; I will use my fingers, or a darning needle to make the rolls. I have also taped two round toothpicks together to make a slotted tool that works well too - whatever works with what I have in the house - lol. As for the housework, I usually do a two day splurge every few weeks although I can't remember the last time I dusted. I wish you luck with our crazy month of painting - have fun with it!

    1. Thanks Anita. I just started quilling a couple of years ago and I quite enjoy it - especially adding it to other media. I did get some rest, thanks and I look forward to seeing more of your work during the challenge.
