Gallery display and Drawings

I have been continuing to do some drawing while I am at Art Club; not every week but often and I thought I would share.
Sea Serpent - pen with watercolour
This is one I really enjoyed doing and so I decided to paint it. Painting was a bit of a challenge as the drawing is just on sketching paper. I am still using the Medieval Fantasy book but I think I will be trying some new subjects next time. Here are a few more from that era - lol.
quick sketches
I took a fair number of photos when my friend and I went to the Artrageous display in Kimberley. It is a juried show with cash awards given to the winners. I can't say I was impressed by the judges choices but I rarely am - they have very strange criteria.

this piece was a runner up and done by a Creston Potter

the second painting from the right won 1st place
On another note; Blogger is having trouble with their notification emails so I have to check my blog a few times a day to see if any of you have left a comment. They are apparently working on the problem so until then don't be surprised if you don't get a reply quickly. I am going to leave myself a comment and check the notification box (if there is one) - maybe that will work. - It didn't work - sigh.

Thanks for stopping by - I love to hear from you!

  2. Your dragon is wonderful; ferocious, yet beautiful! I had an unusual assignment one time for a photography class: visit an art museum and pick the piece you least like. It was a fun challenge; made me look at all the art closely. The worse for me was an oil painting of a weird monkey with fruit all over it's head! As they say, to each his own!!

    1. Ha ha ha. that is too funny about the monkey painting. Our Art Club used to do a people's choice award; it made people look at the paintings more closely too. Thanks for commenting Cathy, - glad you like my dragon!

  3. I'm loving that sea serpent, Val - I'm SO glad you painted it in spite of the difficulties of doing so! Thanks for the Artrageous photos, too, as I'm unable to get there this year. Love Andrea's monsters (I'm presuming they were indeed done by her!).

    1. Thanks Sheila. There wasn't as much wacky art as I thought there would be but I enjoyed seeing what was at the show. I am glad you like my dragon.

  5. Love the dragon!!! I agree about some of the judging for shows. I don't know what their criteria is, but often the winners are not what I would have chosen.

    1. Glad you like the dragon Joan. I don't enter juried shows for the judging but just for the chance to display and, hopefully, sell. If I every 'won' I would be surprised and that would just be a bonus.
