Half Way Through

It is hard to believe that we are half way through the summer - where has July gone?

I look back and don't feel that I have accomplished much this month. I feel that I have been very busy although I am not sure with what! I have spent a fair bit of time taking care of my flowers because it has been so hot. I have also been busy with the Saturday Afternoon Summer Art Market; planning what to take, organizing other artists and artisans and trying to promote the venture.

I have painted a few more turkey feathers and figured out a couple of ways they can be displayed. And, here is a picture of one of the visitors who leaves feathers behind for me to paint.

The framed feather and the one in the stand are examples of how people can display the feathers - I think both look good.

I also managed to get a quilled piece done and was lucky enough to get a request for it the first day I posted it on Facebook. It will soon be making its way to Australia to a cousin-in-law.

The warm weather has really increased the fire hazard in our province and there are a number of fires burning although nothing too close to us. However, the smoke from fires hundreds of miles away still makes it way to our area. That, plus the threat of fire has, I believe, kept tourism down. I am keeping my fingers crossed that August will be a better month with more visitors and more sales - and cooler weather.

I would love to see your comments and how is your summer going?

    1. Thanks Laura. I had to laugh at your comment about the feathers being delivered. I do hope to get some play time in which for me means relaxing on the deck with a good book. Take care and enjoy the rest of the summer.

    1. Thanks Laurie. No I don't think the turkeys know that the feathers they leave serve another purpose - lol

  3. Val the feathers are wonderful! And so is your hummer. I can see why it was scooped up so fast. I agree, time has passed in a blink, and I can't think of what I have accomplished. I have been busy, I know that.
Fingers crossed that the fires keep their distance, and that they are out soon. Such a bad year everywhere for fires. Always pray for the fire crews, such a difficult and dangerous task.
Fingers crossed too, that your Art market picks up!

    1. Thanks Sheila. I think many of us loose track of what we do - life is just so busy. Fires here seem to be on the rise although the firefighters seem to have most of them contained for now - all we can do is pray and hope for the best. About the Art Market - from your lips to God's ears - lol

  4. The feathers look so awesome!!! I hope they sell well at the Art Market. I can't believe the summer is half over either. The Urban Sketching Symposium in Chicago really made me feel like I accomplished something this summer. I am still recovering. lol

    1. Thanks Joan - I hope the feathers will sell but the weather has been so hot most people are just heading for the beach or their air-conditioned homes and the Art Market has been sparsely visited. I am enjoying reading about your trip to Chicago - good for you!.

  5. You are such a going concern...it's a wonder to me that you get ANY creative time at all. I'm with Laura about the feather delivery - good organization on the part of the Universe so that you don't have to go turkey hunting! :D

    1. Lol - thanks for the chuckle Win. I am more than willing to accept gifts like the feathers from the Universe. As for being a going concern, some days it seems more 'going' than any thing else.
