30/30 January Challenge #8

For today's instalment, I have done another painting in Black and White to go with the black and white mats
#986 - Lilies - 5 x 7 watercolour
I guess I did a little too much brightening on this as the mat isn't showing very well. Also, I had a really dark reference photo for this so I ended up guessing at some of the details but I think it turned out okay.

I have managed to get a few extra paintings done so I plan to use some time today to start my bedding plants - just the thought of the flowers to come makes me happy!

Now, I am going to post this to Leslie's 30/30 page and go and play in the dirt!

    1. Thanks Laurie. Most of the time I would rather plant flowers than paint them - lol

  3. This paintings is another winner and these would all look great hanging together Whatever you guessed at was the right thing. Bedding already it is warm enough? I think bedding too, but to get warm!! I don't know what this means but I am already tired from this challenge.

    1. Thanks Nelvia, I can only hope they get sold together as I think they would make a great collage. I start my plants in the house - tiny seeds in trays of potting soil under grow lights. It is too expensive to heat my little green house in the winter but by the time the plants are big enough to move outside it will be warm. I think most of us are tired from the cold, not the challenge. I am off to shovel about 6 inches of snow - have a great day.

  4. Lovely lilies!!! I am enjoying your black and white shading in these. How great that you will be able to enjoy that will bring thoughts of spring. We drove home from Maine yesterday and it was -3 degrees in the morning when we got up...rising to a high of 13. Luckily it is warmer here and should get even warmer as the week goes on. Enjoy getting your plants ready.

    1. Thanks Joan, I am glad you have enjoyed these B & W pieces - I think I am done for now - lol. Thoughts of spring and warmer weather are occupying a lot of people this year as it is so cold everywhere. It is good to stay inside and paint!
