2016 Day 26

I really goofed today. Last week I invited a friend to visit today so that we could paint together and I completely forgot! Bob and I were in the crawl space under the living room so we were deaf to anything happening up stairs. Fortunately, Bob stuck his head out and happened to hear the doorbell. So, we finished up our chore while my friend sat on the stairs and talked to us. Then we crawled out, cleaned up, had lunch and then Linda and I spent the rest of the afternoon PAINTING!

A lot can be accomplished in 3 hours of uninterrupted painting so I am now ahead of the game! Here is today's piece.
In the Spotlight
This is a redo of a painting I did a number of years ago and I have no idea what I used for a reference. My first piece was done in watercolors but this is acrylic.

Shortly after we moved to the country, we heard some strange noises in the evening so we went to investigate. Just armed with flash-lights, we wandered around looking and, half-way up one of the trees near the deck, this is what we saw. We still have a raccoon hanging around as he likes the sunflower seeds the birds drop but we usually only see his tracks in the snow.

"In the Spotlight" is acrylic on a 5 x 8 plastic canvas paper.

Four more days to go!

    1. Thanks Sheila - they are cute, fortunately we no longer have a vegetable garden or they would be just annoying.

  2. I have to say you go where no woman usually goes, under the crawl space?? Your little guy is a cutie, another of those animals that many consider a pest but darn they are to smart cunning and look cuddlie (is that a word) This is a fun little painting. Is the plastic canvas paper like Canvasette or Yupo?

    1. Bob and I have this thing about spending money to do things we can do ourselves even if they are hard or awkward - thus I go in the crawl space. Thanks for you comment on the painting. I don't know what Canvasette is but the stuff behaves sort of like Yupo except it has a textured look. It is not something I would ever buy.

  3. Sweet! We had a big one in our backyard the other day. They shouldn't be out in the daytime I thought. Anyways, you captured his face perfectly!

    1. Thanks Laurie. They are basically nocturnal but I have seen them in the daytime too, especially if it is rainy and very gray. - Thanks for stopping by.

  4. I love how your friend quickly adapted and let you finish your project before you started painting. I like this!! Unfortunately the only time I seem to see these creatures is when they have been victims in a car accident. They are cute but do create a lot of problems.

    1. Thanks Joan. My friend is great and we had a good time painting. I don't think I have ever seen an accident victim raccoon but lots of skunks are killed that way here as well as deer.
