2016 Day 17

Well I managed to do something with the second painting I started yesterday. It isn't wonderful but I think it turned out okay considering it was a bit of a mess.
Silent Forest
Before Christmas I bought a bunch of small acrylic 'Folk Art' paints from a box of items donated to the Art Club. Yesterday I decided to try them out. This painting started out with Plum, Rose and White. The intent was for a flowing abstract like the green piece I did, but what I got was purple mud. I sprayed, blotted, sprayed again - nothing seemed to help. Finally I decided to just paint over the whole mess, so I grabbed a deep purple and slathered it on, then scrapped away with my palette knife. Once the whole thing was dry I added some white and a little bit of blue and ended up with Silent Forest. The painting is a 6 x 10 acrylic on mat board.

  1. Val what an awesome save! High five! This is darling, looks like a wonderful illustration for a children's book. I want to read this book! Also, kinda reminds me of that creepy forest in The Princess Bride. LOL.

    1. Thanks Laurie. I think one thing that being an artist teaches is the need to be open to change - the need to be flexible. Thanks for stopping by.

  3. Another super creative solution. I like the Looks of this. Just well done Val. Well I have been down for the count with computer issues. Finally pulled the trigger this morning and got a new one and am hoping no more virus issues. The old one to be unloaded and off line if it still works and Paulie can use on the kitchen. Good bye finally to vista, I have suffered enough.

  4. This is so different! I love how you continued to change it...and it came out so good! It looks like an illustration for Red Riding Hood with the deep, dark forest!
